Black Friday Haul

HELLO! I’m here! I’m alive! Some things:

1. I’m back from Seoul, pictures coming soon!

2. Winter is… coming here

3. Black Friday Sephora Haul…. oops.

Sephora Haul

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Cleanser – After using a cleansing oil (currently using Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil, it’s REALLY good), Purity gently cleanses and leaves your face feeling squeaky clean.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream & Face Cleanser – Heard great reviews about this brand and was interested in trying it out!

Formula X “Chaotic” & “Hypnotize” – This nail polish seems to get nothing but rave reviews, obviously needed to see what the hype was about. For science!

NEST Fragrances roller ball trio in “Indigo”, “Dahlia & Vines”, and “Midnight Fleur” – I own Indigo & Midnight Fleur, they’re 2 of my current favourite fragrances and now I have them in a travel-size roller ball so that I can touch up during the day. What if you’ve got dinner and/or drinks after work? Freshening up your scent is a nice little pick me up after an exhausting day. Makes you feel a little bit more “put together” when you actually feel tired and shambles.

That’s all. Later gators. As mentioned above, Seoul pictures coming soon + maybe the rest of my Australia pictures, right?

fall/winter essentials

Every fall/winter, I seem to be drawn to my tried and true favourites. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer just as much as the next person. It often results in several weeks of walking in and out of Bath & Body Works to smell their fall candles and walking out empty handed until I finally decide to cave. Only then do I start to openly embrace the return of cooler temperatures! Here are a few of my necessities:

{ pinky-nude nail polish }

{ vampy lips – left to right: plum bright, prince noir, runaway red, media}

{ because having chapped lips & dry skin is the WORST }

{ chunky statement necklaces }

{ “fall” scented candles – leaves & cranberry woods – mMmm }

Settling in: the dresser

As much as I enjoy the idea of home decor, I tend to be averse to the actual purchasing of furniture. But alas, in moving to a new city it became a necessary evil. Save for a box filled with miscellaneous things that I haven’t decided how to store, most of my things have found a place in my room. I don’t like clutter, but I do enjoy displaying pretty things so I guess it’s finding a balance between the two. Here’s the set up of my dresser:

Picked up a few glasses from the dollar store (3 for $1! Dollarama is so amaze) to store some makeup brushes, Revlon stain balms, lip & eye liners, and rings. The tiered stand I bought from Winners a few years ago and I use it as a catch-all for some random things (bracelets, hair pins, some necklaces) that I wear often.  My favourite candle at the moment is the Slatkin & Co “Leaves” candle from Bath and Body Works, the scent makes me so happy! I’m on the hunt for an acrylic tray to put all of these things on – any suggestions where I can find one?

January Favourites

I thought mother nature forgot about us this winter but I obviously spoke too soon. We had a week of -40C ish temperatures (with windchill) – SOOOO COLD. So cold that Siberia felt sorry for us ;) With cold weather comes dry skin so most of these favourites center around that general theme:

Lush 9 to 5 Cleanser: My usual Mary Kay Velocity cleanser was making my face feel a little tight so I switched back to this one. Not THE BEST CLEANSER EVAR, but I can’t handle dry skin, DRIVES ME BANANAS. This cleanser does a good job of cleansing and moisturizing.

Aside — This is the best my skin has looked and felt in a long time. I think that when your face is dry, your oil glands will over compensate and make your skin even OILIER! Now that I’ve incorporated more moisturizing products into my skincare routine, my skin is less oily. WHAAAT?! So awesome.

Aveeno Eczema Care Cream: Maybe I’m gross, but I have seasonal eczema. Ew, eczema. Every winter, there’s this liiittle patch of eczema that shows up on the inside-bottom of my pinky and at night I tend to scratch it (without even noticing) and that obviously isn’t good because it only makes it WORSE. I’ve tried prescribed eczema creams and they don’t really work, so I tried this Aveeno one and the eczema is GONE?! Say wut.

Josie Maran Argan Color Stick: Cream blush is better for dryer skin i.e., in the winter. Being a cream blush n00b, this was surprisingly easy to apply and blend. I *lightly* set it with a powder blush so that it lasts the whole day.

Revlon Lip Butter in “Red Velvet”: The office tends to be really dry so I’ve taken to applying this over my lip stain because I can’t handle dry lips, DRIVES ME BANANAS.

Maybelline Baby Lips in “Cherry Me”: Just another measure to moisturize the lips in the dry office. Was pleasantly surprised that this lip balm doesn’t leave a weird waxy crayon-tasting film on your lips either.

Make Up For Ever Face & Body foundation: This is a nice “second skin” foundation; it’s super lightweight and it stays on ALL DAY — a foundation’s ability to stay on my face the whole day + not rub off on my scarves/clothes is a HUGE selling feature i.e., Revlon ColorStay but sometimes you just wanna try something new and unlike Revlon ColorStay, IT COMES WITH A PUMP. SUCCESS.

Naked 2 Palette ,”Pistol” and “Verve”: I liked the original Naked Palette, but I like the beigey-greys in the Naked 2 Palette even more.

Tarte Amazonian 12-Hour Clay Blush in “Exposed”: It’s described as “nude” but it’s kind of a muted plum, with a little bit of pink? This shade would look good on any skintone.

OKAY THAT’S ALL, FOLKS. If you wish for a more detailed review of anything, leave a comment down below.

Now that it’s February, we need to unite and do a Spring-Dance for mother nature so that she doesn’t dump snow on us in the middle of March. Who’s with me????
